My Mentor, My Broker-in-Charge - When I met Katie in April 2006, I was fresh out of real estate school and had been working under another broker. Within one month, I needed to escape the hostile work environment that I was exposed to on a daily basis. With my humble and battered self, I interviewed with Katie and immediately felt at ease. My fear of getting involved with another broker; whose actions, communication, and ill-tempered behavior – that made my job impossible to perform - was quickly dismissed. Her open and caring persona left no doubt that I made the right choice to join her team.
From day one, Katie – assigned as my mentor – guided me through multiple steps of how to transact business as a Real Estate Professional through her in depth knowledge of real estate and her years of experience in the field. She continuously supported my efforts, applauded my successes, and confirmed my career path for me. Katie's ongoing support and kind words for my work kept me motivated and wanting to continue to make her proud of me.
Because of the atmosphere Katie created for all her students, I was able to confidently work on 4 transactions at once, while only being licensed 5 months. Through her wealth of experience and unsurpassed real estate knowledge, I was able to close all 4 transactions within the first 6 months of my real estate career.
Very shortly thereafter, I closed 6 more transactions under her guidance, and was then assigned to another broker. My safe haven under Katie's mentorship was over. I was now on my own, under another broker in the company; and as a more experienced agent, was now expected to produce as I was under Katie's guidance. This was a bitter sweet experience for me. While I advanced to a better commission structure, I was without Katie's guidance on a daily basis.
Katie is the most vibrant, intelligent, vivacious, knowledgeable, and honorable business women I have ever had the pleasure of knowing and befriending. I recently bought my first house and Katie Dunn was my real estate associate. The whole process seemed overwhelming; but Aunt Katie was comforting, patient, and reassuring the entire time. She even went with me to the lender to make my loan application. No matter how many houses we saw, she wasn't satisfied until I was. In several neighborhoods, she flat out said no, not this one. I knew she had my best interest at heart and was going to make sure I was in a safe area. At no point did I feel any pressure to make a decision I wasn't ready to make.
